Blackjack casino game is a card play, which usually involves from 2 to 8 usual decks of 52 cards that are dealt for 2 cards for each player and the dealer at the very beginning of the game.
Blackjack origin
Blackjack was firstly played in France approximately in 17th century where it was called 'Vingt-en-un', which means twenty one in French.
Such name is not occasional because it is considered that the best winning card combination in blackjack comprises 21 points.
In addition, the English name for the game 'blackjack' also originated from certain card combination of an Ace of spades and a Jack, which was supposed to provide some additional bonus to players.
In Italy blackjack was called 'Seven and a half' and its main goal was to get a playing hand with seven and a half grades. In this game variation 7, 8 and 9 were worth 1 point while face cards provided just half of a point each one.
Blackjack rules
Nowadays there are widely presented a lot of blackjack casino game versions like Spanish 21, Blackjack Switch, Elimination or Chinese Blackjack, which differ within their rules and rewards significantly, but the main goal of the play is always the same: to get as much points as possible in order to beat the dealer but at the same time not to go over critical amount of 21 points.
In case players have cards of total value that exceed 21 points they are automatically considered as losers and are said to be busted.

General blackjack rules list several gaming bets that gamblers could choose from after they are dealt the cards:
- hit: gamblers take more cards if they consider their initial 2 cards are too low-valued;
- stand: gamblers stay in play but do not take any cards more if consider the current combination is enough to win;
- split: is possible in case gamblers originally get two cards of equal rank. Then they could divide them into 2 hands and play separately;
- double: is advisable only in cases when you are certain about your card combination. To double means to get one card more and rise the bet value twofold;
- surrender: means that gamblers quit the game as they think they would lose in any case.

As it was pointed out before, blackjack is a game of skill, which means that there should be some playing strategies developed by famous gamblers that could help novices to improve their gaming.
Really, there is basic blackjack strategy, which is highly recommendable to learn before start playing in order not to lose your head among all the card combinations, their values and payoffs.
And there is also card counting strategy, which is rather sophisticated and its mastering could take a lot of time, but it is really worth such endeavors as card counting allows to decrease the house odds to zero. |
